Panasonic has launched its first Lumix camera with 8K video recording at 14 stops of dynamic range.
The Lumix S1RII featured an enhanced Open Gate feature, allowing users to shoot in 6.4K, and even up to 8.1K / 7.2K with a future firmware update, said the company.
In a first for the Lumix S series, the camera supports internal recording of 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW HQ / ProRes RAW*3 to a CFexpress Type B card, providing greater mobility for one-man operations and small-scale shoots.
Panasonic has added AI tracking to its Phase Hybrid AF, enabling the camera to quickly and precisely detect human eyes and faces and follow a subject’s movements smoothly. With high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 40 fps and AF tracking, dynamic subjects can be captured accurately and effortlessly, added the company.
Users will be able to operate the camera alongside the Lumix Lab smartphone application, which means LUTs can be loaded directly into the camera.
Panasonic added it intends to launch a new Flow app to enhance production workflows across short films, documentaries, music videos, and corporate promotional videos. This app offers a range of features, from storyboard creation and shooting to file organisation, added the company.
