Nordic pay-TV provider C More will use technology from Vimond Media Solutions to deliver content to a new platform, Filmnet. Part of the Swedish TV4 Group, C More already uses Vimond to power its web TV services for general and sports channels, and now it is adding Filmnet as an additional outlet for C More Film. “Filmnet will enable us to offer films and television series to a rapidly growing market, helping us to secure greater market share and giving our audience greater TV experiences,” said Jan Rizvi, head of IT development at TV4. “Together with Vimond Media Solutions, we are able to keep pace with end users’ expectations. Vimond’s advanced knowledge of how to use technologies such as SmoothStreaming, Flash HTTP, Dynamic Streaming and HLS ensures great video quality across all screens.” Filmnet is based on the Ruby on Rails open-source web framework, and launches with a new Silverlight player build by Vimond. The platform provides all the functionality necessary to manage and deliver OTT services. The Vimond modular architecture offers tools from ingest and encoding through conditional access to business intelligence reporting. A beta version of Filmnet for Mac, PC and iPad is already available, with other platforms due to follow shortly. “We have been working with TV4 and C More on other solutions for years,” said Helge Høibraaten, CEO of Vimond. “We are excited to be part of this new project to help the companies break new ground in the pan-Nordic area.”
