MRMC and Dimension drive volumetric video capture forward with new truck

Truck is able to shoot volumetric video, taking 3D stills and full avatar creation, anywhere in the world and is being aimed at broadcasters and creative agencies

Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC – A Nikon Company) and Dimension have unveiled the Polymotion Stage Truck, the world’s first 3-in-1 mobile volumetric studio on wheels.

The truck is able to shoot volumetric video, taking 3D stills and creating a full avatar, anywhere in the world and is being aimed at broadcasters and creative agencies.

It includes a full-size capture studio, which when deployed, triples the truck’s footprint to 46 square metres.

In addition to the studio, the truck includes two multi-purpose rooms that can be used for hair, makeup and wardrobe facilities, green rooms or additional photo studios. The trailer also features a full preprocessing data centre for quick footage review.

Sara Gamble, head of volumetric solutions at MRMC said, “We are extremely excited to be launching our Polymotion Stage Truck. With both the Stage Dome and Stage Truck available – we can now go to any location and capture talent, supporting the industry with delivering creative content on site.”

Simon Windsor, co-founder and joint MD of Dimension, added, “We’re thrilled to partner with MRMC and Nikon to launch Polymotion Stage. These revolutionary mobile capture studios will enable new forms of virtual entertainment and content across sport, music, fashion and more. Volumetric and real-time technologies are raising the bar for entertainment with new possibilities emerging every day.”
