Lightcraft ignites pre-to-post collaboration with Spark

Augmenting traditional processes with AI-driven tools, Spark enables browser-based collaboration throughout the production cycle

Lightcraft Technology has announced the launch of its Spark AI-powered platform.

Designed to provide users with a unified, end-to-end production system enabling live browser-based collaboration from story development to post, Spark builds on the power of Lightcraft’s Jetset and Autoshot solutions to create a “central nervous system” for productions, said the company.

The hub comprises four individual sections:

Combining scans, USD 3D models, animation, audio, AI tools and realistic camera simulations, Spark Shot provides users with the ability to conceive shots anytime and anywhere.

Spark Live connects voice, video, chat, “push-to-talk” and 3D interactions with an associated shot or asset, linking artists and producers and unifying project discussions in a single place. External tools such as Zoom can be integrated, further simplifying collaboration.

The first artist-centric database with the ability to handle storage and coordination requirements for an entire production, Spark Atlas is based on the open source Supabase/PostgreSQL system with encrypted security across almost every element, from 3D files to EXR sequences to take proxies. The solution’s design centres on parsing scripts and connecting every element to its associated action, allowing teams to coordinate and store needs such as scripts, storyboards, simulated shots, camera takes, 3D models and AI data.

Spark Forge unifies post production elements into a timeline-based  tool. The solution uses Jetset shot metadata and OpenTimelineIO timeline exports to automate VFX tasks including tracking, shot building and compositing. Combining asset storage, metadata and patch processing, Spark Forge can quickly process hundreds of “slap comps” and coordinate the team’s actions with generated, application-specific scripts for Blender, Unreal Engine, Nuke, Maya, Fusion, SynthEyes and more.

Eliot Mack, CEO and founder of Lightcraft Technology, said, “The traditional obstacles of filmmaking — raising money, getting approvals, finding locations, scheduling — wear out the artists and kill the magic of making movies. Spark knocks aside these barriers and instantly unifies all the talents of a team within a single system. For the first time, one tool combines the human power of filmmakers with the massive technological changes that are occurring now.”

Spark is expected to be fully released next year.
