Kabel Deutschland picks Kaltura to power TV app

Kabel Deutschland, Germany’s largest cable network operator, has selecte has selected Kaltura OTT TV to power its new TV App, a cable-based multi-screen TV service.

Kabel Deutschland, Germany’s largest cable network operator, has selected Kaltura OTT TV to power its new TV App, a cable-based multiscreen TV service.

The first phase of the multiscreen TV service includes live TV for iOS devices. Additional capabilities and devices will be launched in the coming months.

Kaltura’s solution allows end-customers to consume live, on-demand, catch-up TV, and nPVR-hosted content across all devices. Kaltura OTT TV provides a pay TV solution, with monetisation tools, household and device management, advanced social interactivity and discovery tools, and personalisation features.

Kabel Deutschland has deployed Kaltura’s technology with the aim of offering its customers the most innovative TV experience and to maintain market leadership.

Kaltura OTT TV includes four core modules:

Kaltura MediaPrep: Customers can prepare and edit their content using the Kaltura Workflow Manager and Transcoding module. The video files can be encrypted for a multi-DRM solution, which guarantees a cross-device user experience without compromising content security.

Kaltura MediaHub: This management layer provides tools for content, packaging, business rules, campaigns, devices, geo-services, multi-tenants, multi-DRM, subscribers and analytics.

Kaltura MediaStore: This offers user specific, content discovery, as well as social interaction and personal notifications to promote user engagement. MediaStore enables Kaltura’s customers to create a user oriented TV experience across internet connected devices.

Kaltura MediaGo: A set of end user applications for connected devices such as iOS, Android, web and TVs. The different device applications are designed to unlock Kaltura’s full offering, while offering customised experiences for different screens, capabilities and use-cases, and enabling a consistent cross-device experience.
