Escape to the Country adds Sony PMW-200

Sony Professional’s PMW-200 XDCAM handheld camcorder is being used on the latest series of Boundless Productions’ flagship daytime entertainment show series Escape to the Country, which airs on BBC One and BBC Two.

Sony Professional’s PMW-200 XDCAM handheld camcorder is being used on the latest series of Boundless Productions’ flagship daytime entertainment show series Escape to the Country, which airs on BBC One and BBC Two. Boundless invested in a number of the handheld XDCAM 50 Mbps camcorders to join the Sony PMW-500, PMW-EX3 and XM-Pilot on this year’s shoot, which runs from March until October. Escape to the Country, which is entirely self-shot, uses the handheld Sony PMW-200s to primarily capture location shots and as the second camera alongside the Sony PMW-500 for interviews and reactions once properties have been viewed. Mark Bos, production executive at Boundless Productions, said: “Integrating the PMW-200 into this series of Escape to the Country was a no-brainer. Our goal is always to deliver a better series than the last and the PMW-200 enables us to do that. Its ability to deliver outstanding images in the most challenging lighting conditions in full-HD resolution, and fit seamlessly into our existing workflow, saved us time both on location and in post production, and meant that the production was as efficient as possible.” David Cheesman, sales manager North, Sony Europe, added: “The Sony PMW-200 is an incredibly popular camera that has taken the production market by storm since it began shipping around six months ago. XDCAM workflow is incredibly popular in the broadcast industry, and being so affordable and simple to integrate into existing workflows means the surging demand for the PMW-200 comes as no surprise. 2013 will undoubtedly see the list of high profile productions like Escape to the Country that are integrating the camcorder continue to grow.” www.pro.sony.eu
