Dive 3D ready for action

A series of underwater dives shot by WildEarth.TV in 3D is being sold to broadcasters but plans for live daily stereo broadcasts have had to be downsized.

A series of underwater dives shot by WildEarth.TV in 3D is being sold to broadcasters but plans for live daily stereo broadcasts have had to be downsized. Announced this spring, the underwater project by South African production team WildEarth is being marketed as a 3 x 60 minute series set to music. It has been sold to broadcasters in France and Spain among others. Shot on location in Egypt, South Africa and Mozambique, Dive:3D footage is also being reversioned into a two- or three-hour documentary series. However, initial plans for a live daily 3D dive aired on WildEarth 3D have fallen through. “We had expected greater demand for the linear channel but the market is clearly too young at this stage,” explained Torsten Hoffmann, managing partner of distributor Global Media Consult (GMC). “Daily 3D broadcasts of underwater and safari would have been core to the wildlife channel but the demand has not been there, so we are focussed now on traditional documentary products.” A further series of 13 underwater themed episodes featuring more locations and wrecks and another on water sports are planned. A series of 13 x 28 minute episodes of safari 3D is also being packaged for sale. Further projects include one on hot air ballooning over Asia and another set in Singapore about birds of paradise. Background information here: http://www.tvbeurope.com/main-content/full/stereo-shark-broadcasts-ready-to-bite
