Dejero, Intelsat partner on new solution CellSat

CellSat is a blended network between cellular carriers and Intelsat's satellites

Dejero and Intelsat have launched of a collaboration that provides broadcasters with a new blended cellular and Ku-band IP solution for live television coverage from remote locations.

Dejero CellSat is a blended network that incorporates Dejero’s web management system and combines cellular connectivity from multiple mobile network carriers with Ku-band IP connectivity provided by Intelsat. The two companies say this gives CellSat users the required bandwidth and greater confidence to go live from virtually anywhere.

If the bandwidth available from cellular connections dips due to network congestion or other factors, CellSat automatically blends in Ku-band IP satellite connectivity to boost bandwidth to the requested level for the live shot.

The system does not require booking and is available as and when it is needed.

It is now available in the US with launches in other territories expected to take place in 2018.

Asked about a European launch, Dejero founder Bogdan Frusina told TVBEurope that they are “developing plans as we speak but we have no further details at the moment.”

Intelsat head of media operations Peter Ostapuik added: “Intelsat is already well established in Europe. This new solution will bring a lot of additional benefits to our European customers.”
