More than 10 Russian broadcasters have implemented or extended Dalet asset management systems recently. These include Russia Today, the international broadcaster, which recently opened a new broadcast centre in Moscow for its channels in English, Arabic and Spanish. The Dalet installation at RT has 1400 users.

Other new installations include Vesti 24, with 210 seats of Dalet News, VGTRK with a 100-seat production asset management platform, and REN-TV, also with Dalet News. Away from Moscow Dalet News has been installed at Channel 5 in St Petersburg, OTV in Etakerinburg and Nika TV in Kaluga. Among upgrades, GTRF the national archive has extended its Dalet Media Life system.

Dalet works with systems integrator OKNO-TV in Russia. Mikhail Kalanchekaev of OKNO-TV said, “Dalet solutions address virtually every type of broadcast and production workflow, and we have had an enthusiastic response from Russian broadcasters with News Suite and Media Life in particular.

“The Dalet MAM platform takes these products to the next level as broadcasters now realise that asset management is essential for managing content and metadata, and the need to streamline both production distribution for multiple channels and different platforms,” he continued. “Because Dalet relies on open IT standards, customers do not need to worry about locking into proprietary systems that can become obsolete very quickly.”

Okno-TV, for 20 years prominent in television systems integration in Russia, is increasingly having an impact outside the country. It recently opened an office in the UK.
