Camden Council has approved proposals to transform a 23-acre site in Kentish Town into a walkable facility with sound stages, post production and editing suites, and creative collaboration spaces.
Designed in partnership with Oxygen Studios, Places for People, SPPARC, the National Film and Television School, and London Screen Academy, Camden Film Quarter will feature 11 purpose-built sound stages across its more than 100,000 sq ft of creative space.
According to developers Yoo Capital, the campus will provide a base for creative businesses, education providers and include 485 new homes, half of which will be affordable.
In a statement, the company said, “…it is a complete creative ecosystem that brings together production, education, employment, homes, culture, public realm and strategic infrastructure within a single integrated vision.”
Proposals include a European first vertical studio arrangement, with studios stacked on top of each other to maximise available campus space. The development aligns with wider development plans for the Regis Road Growth Area, repurposing the site into a mixed-use neighbourhood.
