Adobe has announced a range of AI-driven features and upgrades for Premiere Pro.
The company has launched Generative Extend in Premiere Pro, which is powered by the Adobe Firefly Video Model and allows editors to extend video on 4K and vertical orientation, as well as audio clips. The tool provides the facility to lengthen clips to cover video or audio footage gaps, smooth out transitions and hold shots longer, said the company. Content Credentials for digital media are attached to Generative Extend outputs, promoting transparency around AI-generated content.

“Adobe’s new Firefly-powered video tools like Generative Extend have been transformative for our creative and post-production workflows,” said Justin Barnes, executive creative director and partner, Versus Creative Studio.
“They seamlessly integrate into our existing pipeline, allowing us to rapidly experiment, iterate, and develop creative ideas faster than ever. The ability to automate time-consuming tasks has unlocked all new efficiencies and given back time to the creative process, allowing us to further push the limits of storytelling.”
Additionally, Media Intelligence provides enhanced search capabilities, enabling the location of clips within terabytes of footage in seconds. In Frame.io, new upgrades for storage, transcription and expanded support for document formats have been delivered while After Effects now offers enhanced performance and 3D motion tools and HDR monitoring.
Ashley Still, senior vice president and general manager of digital media at Adobe, said, “We’re so excited to see how the Premiere Pro community uses Generative Extend in 4K and AI-powered Media Intelligence to create stories that capture our imaginations. By harnessing the power of Firefly and our advanced AI capabilities, we’re transforming the video editing experience and enabling our customers to focus on what matters most to them – telling vivid, compelling stories.”

AI-powered caption translation is now generally available in Premiere Pro, automating multilingual captioning generation, as is Premiere Color Management, which enables the transformation of raw and log footage from almost ever camera into HDR and SDR as clips are imported.
A new version of After Effects has also been released featuring a high-performance preview playback engine, new 3D motion tools and HDR monitoring.
