Luma AI has announced its latest generative video model and its first launch partner.
Enabling the creation of cinematic, high-quality video of up to 10 seconds duration, Ray3 is one of the first video AI models to support native HDR. Built on a new multimodal reasoning system, the solution aims to provide enhanced understanding of creative intent, allowing users to maintain character consistency and produce natural-feeling motion.
Announcing its release, Luma AI also revealed Adobe will serve as its first third-party launch partner. In addition to its own Dream Machine platform, Ray3 will also be available in Adobe’s Firefly app as part of the company’s wider strategy to develop Firefly as the go-to solution for creative AI. Ray3 will sit alongside models from Adobe partners including, Google, OpenAI, Runway, Ideogram, Pika, Ideogram, Topaz Labs, Moonvalley and more.
Karan Ganesan, founding engineer of Luma AI, said, “Ray3 was built with filmmakers, storytellers, and creators at the centre, and this integration with Adobe Firefly makes that vision real. By combining Adobe’s creative app ecosystem with the intelligence of Ray3, we are giving creators the ability to move from idea to cinematic video in seconds with professional-grade quality and control. This partnership isn’t just about faster workflows; it is about unlocking entirely new ways to imagine and tell stories.”
The collaboration enables Adobe’s users to integrate a range of capabilities into their creative workflows, such as:
- Filmmakers, producers and visual storytellers are able to use Ray3 in Firefly Boards to test visual directions ahead of shooting, generating environments, shot compositions and camera perspectives while storyboarding or planning scenes.
- Content creators can use Ray3 in Firefly’s Text to Video to quickly generate b-roll or background footage.
- Ray3 in Firefly can be synced to Creative Cloud accounts, allowing content to be brought into Adobe apps such as Premiere Pro for editing and refinement.
Hannah Elsakr, vice president, new GenAI business ventures at Adobe, said, “At Adobe, we believe that the right AI tools can help you move faster, while keeping you in control of your creative vision. That’s why we’re focused on building the creative AI ecosystem of the future – one that puts creators at the centre and empowers you with tools like Adobe Firefly, our all-in-one destination for creative AI.”
