Grass Valley selects intoPIX FastTicoXS JPEG XS solution

Minimising the need for dedicated hardware, the integration empowers teams to deploy AMPP across cloud or on-prem infrastructure, enabling live production collaboration from any browser or control surface

intoPIX has announced its JPEG XS technology has been integrated into Grass Valley’s AMPP media processing ecosystem.

intoPIX’s FastTico XS software technology is powering JPEG XS VSF TR-07 and aims to enable users to deliver live content to team members across the globe, streamlining operations and enabling more cost-effective production workflows in the cloud, on-premises or via a hybrid combination, said the company.

Using up to 10 times less bandwidth than uncompressed workflows, or 20 times when utilising intoPIX’s JPEG XS Temporal Differential Coding (TDC), JPEG XS enables image quality to be maintained while operating at significantly lower bitrates, added intoPix.

Eliminating the need for traditional codecs, the solution reduces the need for computing power, enabling faster and more efficient workflows. The integration aligns with Grass Valley’s AMPP mission, supporting scalable and adaptable workflows to meet any production need and providing broadcasters with an efficient route to the cloud.

Ian Fletcher, Grass Valley’s chief technology officer, said, “With more customers relying on AMPP for tier-one events in both cloud and on-premises environments, adding intoPIX’s JPEG XS support allows us to address the needs of latency-sensitive and bandwidth-sensitive applications seamlessly. The compatibility of JPEG XS with both software and hardware solutions further reinforces AMPP’s adaptability and integration within existing hardware infrastructures, enabling an even wider scale of distributed workflows for our customers.”
