Cloud native playout company coralbay.tv has updated its coralPlay video pipeline to support Ultra High Definition (UHD) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) workflows.
coralPlay now provides full support for UHD 4K 2160p (BT.2100), including HLG at p50 and p59.94. The update also includes built-in HDR-to-SDR conversion (and vice-versa).
The update introduces full support for 10 and 12-bit colour depths. To handle the throughput required for real-time UHD, the company said it has implemented an optimised compositor utilising AVX2 and AVX512 instruction sets.
“Our goal is to provide the most efficient and versatile playout solution on the market,” said Peter Hajittofi, CEO at coralbay.tv. “By leveraging GPU acceleration for encoding and HTML graphics rendering, we are achieving industry-leading performance. On an Amazon EC2 g4dn instance, coralPlay can run a full UHD channel using as few as five CPU cores, offering our customers incredible cost-efficiency in the cloud.”
