Cloud platform Iatakoo reports 300 per cent increase in broadcaster usage during pandemic

Company said during June, its broadcast clients streamed 293 per cent more minutes of footage compared to June 2019

According to Iatakoo, usage of its Cloud-based platform by remote broadcasters has increased by 293 per cent during the coronavirus pandemic.

The company counts a number of broadcasters, television stations and production companies among its customers, including Euronews and NBC.

Iatakoo said during June, its broadcast clients streamed 293 per cent more minutes of footage compared to June 2019. This figure is coupled with a 172 per cent increase in the minutes of footage uploaded and a 189 per cent increase in the number of files streamed. Overall, the company said it is currently seeing a 127 per cent increase in files uploaded.

It added that before the pandemic, broadcasters primarily used the platform to transfer content from one place to another, mostly from the field back to a television station or vice versa. Now, it says, almost all broadcasters are doing their jobs remotely.

Commenting on the increase, Jade Kurian, co-founder and president of latakoo, said “latakoo is simple to use from a UI perspective. The user doesn’t know, see or feel all the complexities built into the engine, they just have to drag, drop and click start. With that, we connect that user with collaborators, files, stories and assignments. That elegance in design and technology really lends itself to dynamic usage in a time like this and we are gratefully the beneficiaries of this new type of remote collaboration. From the moment the Covid-19 lockdowns started around the world, we started seeing a spike in usage and it hasn’t stopped.”
