WBD to resume Max rollout across Europe

The move comes ahead of this year's Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games, with WBD aiming to make every live moment of the event available to all of its European streaming customers

Warner Bros Discovery is resuming the rollout of its streaming service Max in Europe.

During 2024, Max will launch in France and Belgium, the first new countries in which WBD has launched the streaming service in two years, further extending the provider’s presence to include the Nordics and Iberia along with Poland and the Netherlands.

In all, Max will be available in 25 European countries, taking the total number of territories across the world to 65.

The move comes ahead of this year’s Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games, with WBD aiming to make every live moment of the event available to all of its European streaming customers. The company has said that Paris 2024 will be included in all subscription plans, ensuring access to the biggest sporting event in the world.

Announcing the Max rollout, JB Perette, CEO and president of global streaming and games at WBD said: “Max is the streaming home of Warner Bros Discovery and builds on our long heritage in Europe, bringing together an incredible breadth and depth of culture-defining entertainment from our services and networks, all in one place. The unrivalled content we’ve got on Max from House of the Dragon to Olympic Games Paris 2024 and beyond means whatever your mood or the occasion, Max has something great for everyone, every time.”

The company has also said it will deliver a new sports add-on service, providing coverage of a wide range of major international events including tennis’ US Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon and the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, with rights varying between countries.
