M2A Media has announced it has joined the SRT Alliance.
Formed the same year the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol was established as an open standard for low-latency, broadcast-grade streaming, the Alliance is a collaborative community of industry leaders and developers working to advance its adoption.
Joining the SRT Alliance recognises the operational reality that SRT is “woven into the fabric” of its platform, said M2A, underpinning secure, reliable video delivery for operators such as DAZN, FIFA, BBC and ITV across multiple territories and live events.
SRT is a foundational transport mechanism within M2A’s cloud-native orchestration platform, MediaToAnywhere, managing live acquisition, distribution and delivery from venue to viewer, and ensuring secure, resilient transport across unpredictable networks. The protocol formed the cornerstone of M2A’s partnership with Japanese systems integrator Photron, powering live video workflows for a major sports rights owner. Running alongside HLS encoding and transport stream archiving within a single cloud workflow, SRT reduced compliance processing from three hours to under 20 minutes, said the company.
Joining the SRT Alliance aims to demonstrate M2A’s commitment to the collaborative development of the solution and the ecosystem surrounding it. Members participate in interoperability testing, contribute to roadmap development, and benefit from working alongside the broadcasters, cloud platforms, and device manufacturers to shape the next decade of broadcast-grade IP transport.
Commenting, Ciarán Doran, CEO of M2A Media, said, “Orchestrating SRT at scale is what we do; SRT is a foundational element of our infrastructure. Our clients are distributing live sports to millions of viewers across hundreds of territories. They cannot afford dropped frames, latency spikes, or compromised security. SRT delivers broadcast-grade reliability over the public internet, and joining the SRT Alliance is the natural expression of the trust we place in this protocol every day.”
“SRT was designed for exactly the kind of scale and unpredictability that M2A operates in. Seeing it applied so extensively across tier-one sports distribution is a powerful validation of its role as a broadcast standard,” said Peter Maag, chief strategy officer and EVP at Haivision.
