EVS and Matrox partner to boost Dynamic Media Facility transition

The collaboration aims to advance interoperability and enable broadcasters to accelerate the transition to resource-driven production environments

EVS and Matrox Video have announced a collaboration, aiming to accelerate the industry transition to software-defined live production.

Aligning with the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) programme, the partnership combines Matrox ORIGIN’s software-defined media transport and processing with EVS’s orchestration and workflow management capabilities. The DMF initiative enables resources to be provisioned according to operational requirement, allowing broadcasters to adopt architecture that scales to meet needs, rather than relying on traditional hardware and workflows.

Supporting interoperable approaches such as the EBU’s MXL (Media eXchange Layer) and IPMX, Matrox ORIGIN provides EVS with a software-defined foundation enabling broadcast workloads to run on standard infrastructure. As an OEM building on ORIGIN, EVS is able to focus on delivering value through its orchestration, automation and operational layers.

EVS enables dynamic deployment of resources through its Production Resource Manager (PRM), a component of its Flexible Control Room solution. Users are able to maximise infrastructure utilisation, increase operational agility, and reduce total cost of ownership, said the company.

Tactiq provides a workflow-driven user experience enabling users to focus on content production over infrastructure management, while Cerebrum provides the same simplification for engineering teams with a unified control layer across SDI, IP, on-premises and cloud environments.
