IMG extends EFL partnership to upgrade broadcast experience

The collaboration aims to ensure system resilience, with IMG and the EFL working alongside NEP Connect Limited to upgrade existing bandwidth and infrastructure

IMG has announced a new partnership with the English Football League (EFL) to help deliver enhanced broadcast output over the next five seasons.

A multi-camera offering will increase the number of camera setups throughout every division, with six cameras covering Championship matches, four in League One and two for games in League Two, said the company. Additionally, Carabao Cup games will feature a minimum of two cameras plus an upscaled four camera setup for later rounds of the competition. Bristol Street Motors Trophy matches will continue with a one camera setup until the semi-finals.

IMG will offer enhanced highlights packages for partner and clubs, with all broadcasts outside of Sky Sports’ main TV selections featuring enriched in-game graphics, and features including recaps and highlights from earlier games.

The collaboration aims to ensure system resilience, with IMG and the EFL working alongside NEP Connect Limited to upgrade existing bandwidth and infrastructure to safeguard the delivery of content to viewers at home and abroad.

Barney Francis, EVP of studios at IMG, said: “We are proud of everything we have achieved with the EFL over the past five years, entertaining fans with more than 500,000 minutes of thrilling action, highlights packages and broadcast shows, and building a ground-breaking remote production that’s unrivalled in football globally. Our work with the EFL and major global football leagues provides unique, in-depth expertise and understanding of the technical solutions, innovations, workflows and reliability required to deliver a project of this scale through a fan-first lens. We are excited to take the EFL viewing experience to the next level for fans domestically and around the world, with upscaled production, enhanced coverage and continued innovation.”
