Disney surpasses Netflix in terms of total subscribers

Company has announced its new Disney Plus advertising-funded tier will launch in the United States on 8th December

Disney Plus added another 14.4 million subscribers worldwide during Q3 2022, reaching a total of 152.1 million.

Across all of its streaming services (Disney Plus, Hulu, ESPN Plus), the company now has 221 million subscribers, beating the previous record held by Netflix of 220.7 million.

Disney Plus’s international subscriptions, excluding Disney Plus Hotstar, grew from 87.6 million to 93.6 million, reported the company.

Meanwhile, the company has announced its new Disney Plus advertising-funded tier will launch in the United States on 8th December at a cost of $7.99 a month.

As part of its Q3 announcement, the company also lowered its long-range forecast for Disney Plus to 215-245 million subscribers, down from the previous 230-260 million.
