Disney Plus to launch in eight more European countries

Streamer to launch in eight markets across Western and Northern Europe

Disney’s streaming service Disney Plus will launch in eight more European markets in September.

The SVoD will launch in Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Belgium and Luxembourg on 15th September.

Disney said subscribers will be able to watch content on “nearly all major mobile and connected TV devices” at launch, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs.

Users can access up to four concurrent streams as well as unlimited downloads on up to ten devices.

According to analysts, the streaming service has already signed-up over 4 million subscribers in the UK since launch in late March. In April Disney said it had reached 50 million subscribers globally.

Disney Plus recently stopped its free 7 day trial. It’s thought the decision was taken as the streamer prepares to debut the filmed Broadway production of multi-award-winning musical Hamilton.
