YouTube is getting involved with microdramas with the launch of Shorts Series, which will bring the episodic features to YouTube Shorts on TV.
The new feature enables creators to structure their short videos into seasons and episodes, said the platform. It is available across web, mobile and TV.
YouTube has also introduced new features like custom thumbnails and sequential playback to make it easier for audiences to discover new Shorts and keep watching.
According to a blog post on the company’s website, in the first half of 2026, microdramas on YouTube surpassed 6.5 billion views, with watch time growing by over 50 per cent year-over-year. Meanwhile, views of microdrama content on TV increased by over 90 per cent year-over-year.
