Strong Finnish as QuickLink gives the edge to MTV Oy remote contributors

Enabling platform-agnostic connectivity for remote contributions, StudioEdge aims to increase flexibility and boost editorial depth for MTV Oy's news productions

QuickLink has announced its solutions have been selected by MTV Oy, Finland’s largest commercial broadcaster.

Aiming to strengthen the technical backbone of its live production and provide greater flexibility for its contributors, MTV Oy deployed QuickLink’s StudioEdge solution.

Commenting, Pirkka Maksimainen, technology and service development manager, news productions at MTV Oy, said, “Before integrating StudioEdge, we evaluated various remote contribution solutions. The main challenge was that many solutions required contributors to install an application or sign in to a specific service. StudioEdge gives us much greater flexibility, allowing us to continue using StudioCall while also introducing guests via platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Its platform-agnostic approach enables contributors to join in the way that is most convenient for them, helping us conduct interviews quickly and seamlessly without creating additional barriers for guests.”

StudioEdge’s NVIDIA-powered video and audio enhancement aims to ensure consistency of viewing experience by improving the quality of remote contributions, regardless of the contributor’s environment. Interviews can be arranged by phone, with producers able to ensure guests remain connected and informed, joining with the device they are already using. The solution allows producers to see the programme feed and hear a mix-minus audio feed, allowing them to easily follow during the live interview.

“In these productions, StudioEdge has made it possible to reach professionals and experts across the globe quickly and cost-effectively,” added Maksimainen. “This has improved both the technical reliability of remote contributions and the storytelling Possibilities.”
