RTVE boosts OB performance with TITAN Edge integration

The solution aims to enable operators to monitor live video, configure services and perform satellite carrier alignment without the need for additional hardware on-site

Spanish broadcaster RTVE has selected Ateme’s TITAN Edge platform to enable integrated satellite contribution for three new transportable production units.

The vehicles each feature a fully redundant 1+1 transmission and 1+1 reception chain. The transmission side combines UHD/HD encoding and DVB-S2/S2X modulation, while on the receive side, TITAN Edge provides satellite demodulation and IRD decoding within the same ruggedised appliance to support both UHD and HD contribution workflows, said the company.

Eliminating the need for multiple dedicated devices, TITAN Edge consolidates critical broadcast functions into two integrated platforms, said Ateme, simplifying installation, reducing cabling and streamlining live production operations.

An integrated front panel aims to enable operators to monitor live video, configure services and perform satellite carrier alignment, eliminating the need for external devices during deployment, further simplifying installation and accelerating on-site operations. The software-based platform is designed to evolve to meet changing requirements, aiming to allow users to add new capabilities without replacing hardware.

Julian Mandel, senior solution marketing director, contribution and distribution, Ateme, said, “Broadcasters are looking for simpler, more integrated contribution infrastructures without compromising reliability. By integrating encoding, modulation, satellite reception and decoding into compact platforms, TITAN Edge reduces operational complexity while providing the resilience required for live contribution. It also gives customers the flexibility to evolve their systems through software as operational needs change.”

Ivan Olmeda, CEO of Broad Service, which acted as integrator for the project, added, “RTVE required a highly reliable and operationally efficient satellite contribution solution capable of supporting demanding live production workflows. The functional integration offered by TITAN Edge, together with its software architecture and ease of operation, made it an excellent fit for this project.”
