EVS zooms in on replays

Extending the capabilities of LSM-VIA, the zoom capability aims to enhance game analysis and storytelling in premium live sports productions

EVS has integrated a new zoom feature into its LiveCeption solution suite.

Zoom is controlled from the LSM-VIA and provides replay operators with the ability to zoom into a camera feed in real-time operation. Aiming to enhance live production workflows, instant zoom-ins are enabled via a touchscreen interface, said the company.

The solution allows operators to define pre-set regions of interest, providing one-touch zoom-ins on key areas of action. Keyframes can also be added within a sequence, ensuring critical moments remain in clear view, said EVS.

Image quality is maintained by cropping a 4K input to deliver 1080p output for integration into any replay sequence. Zoom is compatible with UHD cameras (including super motion cameras up to 4 phases) and also supports both SDI and ST 2110, enabling use across a range of production environments. Clips can be stored with keyframes as metadata or exported externally. Additionally, content can be enhanced with EVS’s AI-powered XtraMotion tool that creates super motion or deblurred footage.

Ignacio Revuelto, product marketing manager LiveCeption at EVS, said, “After a series of successful tests with customers during real live productions, we’re excited to showcase the new Zoom feature at NAB Show. Operators have expressed their enthusiasm, highlighting how flawlessly it works, how incredibly easy it is to use, and how impressed they are with the speed and reactivity of the touch controls. With Zoom, we’ve developed a feature that truly takes live replays to the next level.
