Clear-Com has released details of a marathon live broadcast event.
In a production the company said broke the record for the longest live TV sports broadcast, Clear-Com provided communications infrastructure for the recent ADAC RAVENOL 24 hour Race at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit.
Utilising more than 70 camera feeds and three OB vans, the broadcast, managed by TV Skyline, included helicopter footage, a 650-metre cable camera and onboard views. In addition to the helicopter and wireless camera systems, HDWirelessGMBH provided Clear-Com intercom infrastructure across the site. The deployment included Clear-Com’s Eclipse HX-Delta matrix system fitted with an E-IPA-HX card connecting FreeSpeak II IP transceivers and intercom panels across an AES67 fibre network. A total of 21 FreeSpeak II IP transceivers, 20 FreeSpeak II beltpacks and four FreeSpeak Icon beltpacks were in use.
Technical support throughout the event was provided by Clear-Com and its German distributor, Audio-Technica. Control and monitoring was maintained using EHX configuration software.
Alex Hemme, regional sales manager at Clear-Com, commented, “At an event as technically demanding as the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Race, communication has to be absolutely reliable. Working closely with HDwireless and Audio-Technica, we ensured that every team, from the OB vans to the pit lane, had clear, stable communication throughout the entire broadcast.”
