Channel 4 has revealed its plans for coverage of the 2024 US presidential election.
An eight-hour broadcast live from Washington DC, America Decides, will be fronted by Channel 4 News’ Krishnan Giru-Murthy alongside The News Agents’ Emily Maitlis.
Presenter Matt Frei will lead UK coverage on the night, with BBC and Channel 5 presenter Jeremy Vine providing infographics and fronting a ‘data hub’ with statistics and stories as state results are declared. A wide range of guests will take part in the proceedings.
In a first for the broadcaster, Channel 4 will team up with CNN on the night, enabling the sharing of guests, reporters, data and graphics as events unfold. The partnership will tap into CNN’s data and analysis, enabling updates to be simulcast from chief national correspondent John King, famous for his ‘Magic Wall.’
The programme, made by ITN Productions, will go to air at 10:15 GMT on Tuesday November 5th, and will also be available on Channel 4’s Youtube, TikTok pages and streaming platform.
Louisa Compton, Channel 4’s head of news and current affairs and specialist factual and sport said, “After our successful coverage of the UK election we’re delighted to be bringing Channel 4 viewers what will surely be the best and most comprehensive coverage of the American election results – the consequences of which will be watched keenly around the world. America Decides will capture all the drama of the night, whilst also providing the best analysis and commentary with our impressive talent line-up, unique range of guests and partnership with CNN.”
Ian Rumsey, managing director of content at ITN added, “We’re delighted to follow up the UK election show with another programme full of drama. Our presenting line-up and exclusive guests will bring the sharpest analysis and most compelling conversation as we guide viewers through the night.”
