LiveU has revealed details of its work to support and enhance global newsgathering operations for the Associated Press (AP), delivering intelligent connectivity and story-centric workflows.
The organisation will deploy LiveU Ingest, LiveU Transceivers and LiveU IQ connectivity, bringing its global fleet to more than 100 encoders, representing the industry’s largest deployment of LU900Q intelligent production units.
Featuring AI-driven connection management and eSIM technology to use global mobile data networks, the LU900Q aims to support live news operations including live feeds, editorial and multi-camera workflows used by the organisation’s production arm, AP 360.

Additionally, using LiveU Ingest with our MAM system gives us greater flexibility and speed, allowing us to move even faster and more efficiently from capturing content to distributing it to our customers around the world.”
Integrating LiveU Ingest with its cloud-based MAM system enables support of up to 10 simultaneous live channels, streamlining how content moves from the field into AP’s workflows.
Additionally, AP is transitioning to an SMPTE ST 2110 environment, deploying five LiveU servers alongside a dedicated SDI server. LiveU IQ’s intelligent network switching ensures continuous optimisation across available networks in real time, aiming to ensure consistent as connectivity conditions change.
