Report: remote production, transitioning to IP and implementing AI are industry’s top priorities

Enabling remote production remains the top technology priority for broadcasters over the next 12 months, with 41 per cent of respondents identifying it as their leading focus for 2026

Haivision has released the latest iteration of its annual Broadcast Transformation Report, which surveys the media industry to gain insight into trends and challenges.

This year’s survey received responses from 1,300 broadcast professionals worldwide, which Haivision was a record number of respondents.

According to the report, enabling remote production remains the top technology priority for broadcasters over the next 12 months, with 41 per cent of respondents identifying it as their leading focus for 2026. That’s followed by transitioning to IP (39 per cent) and implementing AI, which has risen to 34 per cent of respondents compared to 28 per cent in 2025.

Among the top industry challenges, budgetary constraints rose from 45 per cent in 2025 to 49 per cent in 2026. Reducing broadcast live production latency, transitioning to IP and Improving broadcast quality were all cited as challenges.

The report also found that while SMPTE ST 2110 adoption is growing, with 30 per cent of respondents reporting using ST 2110, SDI is still the dominant video infrastructure protocol, with 82 per cent of respondents continuing to leverage it.
