UK broadcaster Channel 4 is expected to announce it is axing up to 300 roles in what is the biggest round of cuts in its 40+ year history.
According to the Guardian, the cuts are equal to a quarter of the broadcaster’s workforce.
Chief executive Priya Dogra, who joined Channel 4 in March, is expected to announce further details at a staff meeting later today, which will focus on a review of strategy and structure.
The report suggests many of the cuts will be at the broadcaster’s London office.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster told the Guardian: “As we have shared publicly, under the leadership of our new chief executive, we have been assessing Channel 4’s strategic direction, including a comprehensive review of the structure, shape and size of our organisation.
“We have committed to keeping Channel 4 staff updated in a timely and transparent way, so any organisational change will be shared with them first and we won’t be commenting on speculation.”
