Revamping storage options

Avid recently revamped its storage line with the introduction of Nexis, a software-defined storage platform specifically designed for storing and managing media, which enables fully virtualised storage so media organisations can adjust storage capacity mid-project, without disrupting workflows.

The system, which relies on the Avid MediaCentral platform, will be featured at IBC. It can be used with Avid-based and third-party workflows, both for small and large projects. Another key demo on the Avid stand will be its Avid Spark telestrator, a fast-turnaround live sports enhancement tool that lets on-air commentators draw and add graphics to video content in real time. Its touchscreen interface allows users to draw graphics in both onscreen and in-field perspectives.

Visitors can also examine the latest version of Avid PlayMaker, designed to speed up slow-motion replay and media highlights editing. The new version provides more streamlined collaboration
with Nexis storage.

And when used with Media Director, exported clips and consolidated playlists can be automatically checked into Interplay Production while maintaining keyword
metadata tagging.

Also highlighted will be Avid’s 4Designer graphics authoring software, and a new version of its Maestro on-air graphics tool. New features of the latter include the Maestro Media Engine, which supports video ingest and playout, native user rights management, graphics templates and tools for repurposing of graphic content.
