Amira Multicam on song

The new Amira Multicam system allows broadcasters to shoot cinematic live events under the control of standard Sony remote control panels.

It is already being used for a popular Chinese TV talent show, I Am a Singer, produced by Hunan Television, where 23 Amiras, which the channel bought, were used for the live season finale.

The camera’s ability to handle highlights are a big attraction for the station, as it is for other users, such as Amazon, which is using the UHD output for the Amira for the upcoming Jeremy Clarkson series, The Grand Tour.

Amazon has also adopted Arri’s Alexa to shoot season three of its acclaimed UHD hit, Mozart in the Jungle, thanks to the camera’s HDR capabilities.

“We’ve always said dynamic range is really important,” said Stephan Schenk, MD of Arri, who pointed out that it is still able to use material shot on an Alexa in 2010 to demonstrate HDR at IBC today.
