Amazon, Netflix, Apple among “most connected brands”

"No signs of slowing down" for Netflix

Amazon, Netflix and Apple have been named among the most connected brands, “the brands which are indispensable to consumers’ daily lives.”

Amazon takes prime position on Opinium’s Most Connected Brands Index, citing AWS Cloud services and Amazon Prime Video as key drivers in the company’s expansion.

Netflix sits in 11th place, and according to the Most Connected Brands 2019 report: “There are no signs of slowing down… the next challenge for Netflix appears to be breaking down the barriers amongst the baby boomer generation – but based on their previous success, this may well be more a question of when, rather than if.”

Meanwhile Apple fell five places since 2018 to 14th in the rankings, with Apple TV+ failing to generate enough buzz to take a bite out of the crowded streaming sector.

“It’s no surprise to see the streaming giants do so well in Most Connected Brands 2019,” said Opinium senior researcher James Nicandrou. “They enable viewers to watch what they want, when they want, where they want. In an increasingly crowded category, the challenge will be to continually produce high-quality programming whilst maintaining the personal connection the brand has with the viewer.”
