Game of Thrones finale breaks Sky audience records

Cumulative audience per episode averaged 6.081 million

The Game of Thrones finale attracted record viewing figures for Sky Atlantic, according to the broadcaster.

Sky revealed the following:

  • The final episode drew in 5.789 million viewers, making it the biggest series finale of any Sky programme
  • Episode 2 had the highest audience for the series at 6.31 million, or 7.1 million including viewers using the Sky Go app or watching after the first seven days it was on air
  • The average cumulative audience per episode was 6.081 million, the strongest series performance of any Sky programme
  • The average viewer of the series in the UK is aged 41, with a 51 per cent male and 49 per cent female split

The final series also broke social media records with 80 million total impressions, 8 million total engagements and an average engagement rate of 10 per cent. The total number of video views across social media reached 20 million.
