Amazon Prime Video has launched a new slate of new sports content for the coming year which will see exclusive films and series supplementing a growing suite of live sports productions.
As well as more English Premier League coverage in December, including heavyweight clashes between Manchester United and Arsenal, and Everton and Liverpool, Prime will also be showing 17 matches from the Autumn Nations rugby union series with a new Welsh language option during its coverage of Wales matches, which includes full commentary and punditry.
Prime used the showcase event to parade its growing roster of high profile pundits, which now include Patrice Evra in its football ranks, with Dylan Hartley, Stephen Larkham, Bryan Habana, and Emily Scarratt announced for its Autumn Nations Series coverage.
Also announced were further Prime originals, including documentaries on Wayne Rooney, the boxer Nicola Adams, Arsene Wenger, Diego Maradona, and the Arsenal and Bayern Munich football teams.
“We’ve come a long way since our UK launch in 2018,” said Marie Donoghue, Vice President of Global Sports Video at Amazon. “We know the UK has some of the most passionate sports fans in the world, and we’re dedicated to growing our portfolio across live sports and original content to give them more of what they love.”
Alex Green, MD Prime Video Sport Europe and TVBEurope 2021 Watch List alumni, added, “We are always looking to improve our live sports for customers. We have announced new broadcast talent to bring Prime members expert analysis that is both insightful and entertaining as well as new ways to watch, such as the option for Welsh rugby fans to enjoy their team at the Autumn Nations Series in the Welsh language. It’s an exciting year for live tennis, rugby and football on Prime Video in the UK.”
