TVBEurope to host women in broadcast roundtable

Aspera CEO Michelle Munson to moderate high profile panel discussion in London

TVBEurope is pleased to report that it will be hosting its first Women in Broadcast roundtable event on Wednesday 20 May at the Bloomsbury Hotel in London.

The event will seek to inspire discussion about the challenges facing women of all levels in all disciplines of today’s media and entertainment industry, and identify what is being done from grass roots level to C-level to address the current gender imbalance.

Michelle Munson (pictured), CEO of Aspera, has been confirmed as moderator of the event and will preside over a discussion that brings together high profile names from across the sector. Confirmed speakers include Meryl McLaren, commercial manager at BBC S&PP; Lesley Marr, COO, Deluxe Digital Europe; Carrie Wooten, head of commercial development, Ravensbourne; Christine Corner, partner, Grant Thornton; Sadie Groom, MD, Bubble and Squeak; Emma Riley, head of business development, dock10; Sophie Wilson, director of sales and marketing, PHA Media; and Anne-Louise Buick, head of portfolio marketing, compression business line, Ericsson.

Sophie Wilson, director of sales and marketing at PHA Media, and author of a recent article celebrating inspiring female leaders in the broadcast sector in TVBEurope, said, “The Women in Broadcast Roundtable is a vital initiative in drawing attention to the issue of gender inequality in the broadcast industry. The current state of the nation (which sees a mere 1:50 female to male ratio) proves the importance of highlighting the challenges that stand in the way of progress and what needs to be done to rectify the existing imbalance throughout the sector.”

A full write up of the key discussion points from the day’s event will be available in the July issue of TVBEurope and across the brand’s digital channels.
