Sony Pictures Television Networks has picked up the broadcast rights to Lionsgate’s award-winning drama series Orange is the New Black.
The show will have its broadcast premiere on Sony Channel on 19 April.
The series follows Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman in her 30s who is sentenced to 15 months in prison after being convicted of a decade-old crime of transporting money to her drug-dealing girlfriend.
Kate Marsh, SPTN executive vice president, said “We recognise the demand for premium content that appeals to a broad audience which is exactly what Orange Is The New Black offers.”
It is widely recognised as a must-see series that we’re pleased to make part of our offering on Sony Channel.”
