Roku has announced a total of 29.1 million active accounts, streaming a combined 8.9 billion hours of programming during the first quarter of 2019.
The company’s user base grew 40 per cent during the first three months of 2019, resulting in a 79 per cent growth in platform revenue to $134 million.
CEO Anthony Wood said the shift from linear TV to streaming has “enormous momentum,” adding that the Roku OS is the “best-selling smart TV OS in the US.”
“The strength of our brand, the scale of our active account base, the advantages of our purpose-built streaming OS, and the engagement of our users make Roku an increasingly important partner for content publishers, advertisers and TV manufacturers,” he added.
