ProSiebenSat.1 ‘exploring’ Sky Deutschland acquisition

According to reports, ProSiebenSat.1 would be interested in acquiring the pay-TV broadcaster due to "limited synergies" between the two companies

According to a report by Reuters, German media company ProSiebenSat.1 is considering acquiring pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland.

Last week it was revealed Sky’s parent company Comcast is mulling selling its German operation. It is said to be working with an advisor on a possible €1 billion of the broadcaster.

Reuters suggests deliberations over a potential sale are still on-going, but quotes two sources as saying ProSiebenSat.1 would be interested due to “limited synergies” between the two companies.

ProSiebenSat.1 declined to comment on the report.

Comcast acquired Sky Deutschland when it bought out 21st Century Fox’s 39 per cent in the broadcaster in 2018.
