ProSiebenSat.1 CEO departs with immediate effect

Max Conze joined the company in 2018

Max Conze, CEO of German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1, has left the company with immediate effect.

A successor has not been announced, but Rainer Beaujean will now become chairman of the executive board in addition to his role as chief financial officer.

The broadcaster said it intends to return its focus to the entertainment sector in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Conze is the latest departure from the company’s executive team, CTO Nick Thexton left in February.

ProSiebenSat.1 is currently fending off what many think is an attempt at a takeover by Italy’s Mediaset, which earlier this week raised its stake in the German broadcaster to just under 20 per cent.

Meanwhile, earlier this year Bertelsmann’s CEO Thomas Rabe called for the merger of RTL with ProSiebenSat.1, in order for the German companies to compete with the American streaming giants.
