Snap chairman joins Channel 4’s board

Michael Lynton has previously worked at Sony Pictures and Walt Disney and Time Warner

Michael Lynton, chairman of Snap Inc, is joining Channel 4’s board as a non-executive director, Ofcom has announced.

He will serve a three year term, and his appointment has been approved by UK Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries.

Lynton has previously worked at Sony Pictures and Walt Disney and Time Warner, and is currently on the board of regents of the Smithsonian, and the board of trustees of the Tate.

Channel 4’s board still has two non-executive director positions open. Ofcom said it is “a high priority” for the organisation to ensure a diverse list of candidates.

Lynton’s appointment follows the announcement of Sit Ian Cheshire as the new chair of Channel 4’s board at the beginning of April.
