Merapar appoints new CEO

Alex Terpstra joins the company from previous roles with the likes of Civolution and Philips, and has a strong track record in building and scaling high-growth businesses, said the company.

Media and technology consultancy Merapar has appointed Alex Terpstra as its new CEO.

He joins the company from previous roles with the likes of Civolution and Philips, and has a strong track record in building and scaling high-growth businesses, said Merapar.

Terpstra led the spin-off of the leading watermarking technology company Civolution from Philips. The company received two technology and engineering Emmy awards for its watermarking and fingerprinting technologies.

At Merapar, he has been tasked with expanding the company’s customer base, opening new markets, and introducing innovations to support the global media industry.

Joining Merapar at this pivotal moment in our industry, as traditional broadcast is challenged by IP streaming and VoD, is very exciting,” said Terpstra.

“Traditional IT has changed too – cloud native engineering, coupled with agile ways of working have redefined the way our engineers work and our customers engage. Monolithic product stacks are being replaced by homegrown microservices architectures. Merapar teams work at the heart of these tectonic shifts and, with the help of proven foundational architectures and component toolkits, create value by engineering cost out and designing opportunity in. Merapar has already achieved so much; the company works with the greatest brands in entertainment and I look forward to contributing to even more success.”
