Mediaset, Vivendi CEOs ‘to speak over long-running battle’

Mediaset CEO Pier Silvio Berlusconi will speak "in the near future" to Vivendi's CEO Arnaud du Puyfontaine

The CEOs of Mediaset and Vivendi are expected to resume contact in their long-running battle over control of the Italian company.

According to Reuters, Mediaset CEO Pier Silvio Berlusconi will speak “in the near future” to Vivendi’s CEO Arnaud du Puyfontaine. The report cites a source who declined to give further details.

Last week, the European Court of Justice ruled an Italian law that forced Vivendi to freeze most of its voting rights in Mediaset violated EU rules. Vivendi owns 29 per cent of the Italian company.

A hearing in an Italian court has now been scheduled for 16th December to discuss Vivendi’s appeal against the the decision to freeze its voting rights, reports Reuters.
