ITV, BBC agree to continue funding YouView until 2024

YouView's shareholders have reached an agreement on the IPTV service's governance and funding arrangements

ITV, the BBC, BT, Channel 4, TalkTalk and Channel 5 have agreed to keep YouView running until March 2024, after the shareholders reached an agreement on the service’s governance and funding arrangements.

Both ITV and the BBC have each committed to contribute £750,000 to YouView each financial year from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2024.

That figure mirrors ITV’s current annual funding obligations to YouView, according to a financial statement from the commercial broadcaster.

YouView develops and maintains the software for the YouView service, currently available from BT, TalkTalk and certain Sony TVs.

It officially launched in the UK on 4th July 2012 and will celebrate its 10th birthday this year.
