Google acquires Cloud company Alooma

Tech giant is thought to be looking to catch up with AWS and Microsoft

Google has acquired US-based Cloud company Alooma in a move that analysts believe will help the tech giant catch up with the likes of Amazon and Microsoft.

According to technology analysts Canalys,¬†Google Cloud held 8.5 per cent of worldwide Cloud market share at the end of 2018, compared to¬†Amazon Web Services’ 31.7 per cent share and Microsoft Azure’s 16.8 per cent.

Alooma helps enterprise companies streamline database migration in the Cloud with a tool that enables moving data from multiple sources to a single data warehouse.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been revealed.
