Generative AI goes sci-fi in new film

Wayne Hills used artificial intelligence to write the script, while the video, images and subtitle production were all automated with AI

South Korean production company Wayne Hills has created its first film using generative artificial intelligence.

Wayne Hills is an AI-powered video production startup that offers text-to-video, which automatically converts pasted text into video content. The company launched its app TTV AI in May, and is currently working on making it available globally.

It used the app to create AI New Cinema Movie, which follows Aiden, a hyperreal human-like character, who appears on his own spaceship in the video, narrating his own adventure.

The company has released the trailer for the film on YouTube.

It marks first time in Korea that a movie with a single story has been produced using AI technology alone.

The CEO of Wayne Hills, Lee Soo-min, said, “Cinemas will be able to do more than just show movies if the domestic multiplex project can integrate video generation AI technology. With the business cases in the domestic market, we hope to lead the AI film industry through AI content globally.”
