New studio facility opens in Farnborough

UK's latest studio facility is a joint venture between Farnborough International and Stage Fifty

Two new 22,000 sq ft sound stages for film and TV productions have opened their doors in Farnborough, Hampshire.

The studio facility is a joint venture between Farnborough International and Stage Fifty.

It includes 10,000 sqft chalets which have been converted into permanent production offices while the site’s power network has been upgraded to 1500 KVA per stage in order to deal with with power-hungry productions.

Stage Fifty is developing several UK film studio sites which it says will create around 300,000 sq ft of high-quality space within the next 18 months.

“The creation of these sound stages will support around 800 jobs in a diverse range of industries and services and generate new opportunities to help boost our local community,” said Gareth Rogers, CEO at Farnborough International.

James Enright, CEO of Stage Fifty, added: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with the team at Farnborough International to bring much-needed studio space to the UK. Stage Fifty builds and operates professional film environments, and our sound stages are designed and engineered to the highest industry specification.”

The site is already being used by Hartswood Films, which is shooting The Devil’s Hour for Amazon Studios and Inside Man for BBC and Netflix at the facility.
