Prime Focus Technologies opens new hybrid-cloud media centre

New facility follows the company's deal to manage Channel 4’s media processing and centralised content operations

Prime Focus Technologies’ new hybrid-cloud media centre in Leeds is now fully operational.

The new facility will provide operations for Channel 4, including receipt and delivery of content, quality control, edit and remastering, archiving, live simulcast of linear channels and transcoding, along with packaging and delivery of non-linear services.

It is also home to high performance, scalable infrastructure for end-to-end content supply chain management through SLA-driven media processing services powered by cloud-based workflows running on the company’s flagship product, CLEAR, said PFT.

Among the services offered by the facility in Leeds are QC, editing and remastering, compliance and re-visioning, and digital distribution.

Nick Kaimakami, EVP and head – EMEA and USA East, Prime Focus Technologies said, “2020 and Covid have shown us that technology is even more critical than ever. Surrounded by the new world-class Studio hub and a growing Leeds industry, our facility will act as a CLEAR-powered Media Hub Gateway to take advantage of the wider global and connected ecosystem and offerings.”
