Italian broadcaster Mediaset is reportedly planning a corporate reorganisation, and is expected to hold an extraordinary board meeting today.
According to Reuters, the considerations on the table include moving the company’s legal department to Amsterdam, and a possible buyout of its Spanish unit Mediaset Espana.
Mediaset has responded with a statement that the company has no plan to buy out minority investors in its Spanish unit.
Last week, Mediaset acquired a 9.6 per cent stake in German rival ProSiebenSat.1, fuelling speculation that might be a first step towards creating a pan-European TV company.
The two companies have previously denied talks of a merger.
