Sky is phasing out Sky+, offering new customers Sky Q boxes as standard.

The 1TB version of the Sky Q box will now be included with all Sky TV bundles, including the entry-level ‘original bundle’.

Sky said that the decision was triggered by the good reaction Sky Q has had since launch, and that it will continue to update and replace Sky+ boxes for the millions of customers already using them.

Sky+ HD boxes will only be made available to new customers who are not able take a Sky Q box.

The 4K compatible Sky Q Silver, launched in February, is part of the latest Sky TV bundles at a monthly subscription of between £20 and £38 per month.

The complete family of products span Sky Q, Sky Q Silver, Sky Q Mini, the Sky Q touch remote, the Sky Q Hub and the Sky Q app – all of which connect together to deliver what Sky call ‘fluid viewing’. The 12-tuner Sky Q Silver box gives customers the ability to record four shows while watching a fifth live.
